review: mac mineralize satinfinish

sorry the bottles abit grubby! i have been using this for a while now
I bought this foundation from recommendation of the mac mua, after I explained I wanted a foundation that was suitable for my dry skin and had light-medium coverage. it applies really nicely with my elf studio powder brush, but once on my skin it feels abit greasy, compared to the mac select foundation that I had previously, so I need to cover with powder, which isn't very good. It offers nice coverage and is build-able, which is necessary I feel. I like this foundation better than the select one by mac and it gives much better coverage than the drug store brands, but I wouldnt say that it was a wonder foundation. I would like to try the nars sheer glow to see how it compares to that. what do you think? let me know.

redrock competition

the lovely people at redrock, who own a online boutique selling gorgeous customised vintage clothes, which you can browse here and on asos marketplace, are running a blogger competition to style an outfit from there website, so I thought id have a go. I chose these gorgeous 90s floral shorts to pair with this studded tee. I paired them with some jewelry and sunglasses from asos and a pair of jeffrey campbell litas. what do you think to my outfit.

york

dress: alice takes a trip
cardigan: zara
shoes: office
bag: aldo
last week me and sam took a spur of the moment trip to york. it was a lovely sunny day, and we walked along the cobbled streets, visited some quaint shops, and I ate a giant pizza for lunch. we had a lovely time, so I thought id post a few snaps from the day (taken kindly by sam) I love york, I even bought my year 11 prom dress from here. its only an hour away from my house so I dont know why I dont go alot more! it made a nice change from grimey sheffield. were going to bridlington next week for a few days with my grandparents and youngest cousins, so I cant wait for that and fingers crossed it doesnt rain.

shes picture perfect

essie nail polish (shes picture perfect): asos [£5.50]

ive wanted to try the essie polishes since they first came out,but at 7.99 from boots and 9.95 from asos! I couldnt justify paying that much. however when i saw this in the asos sale
i just couldnt say no. i ABSOLUTELY love it. the colour is like a pale lilac colour that glimmers slightly in the bottle, although on the nail it appears alot more one tone. it stayed chip free
atleast 4 days without a top coat. ill defiantly be buying moreand i'm really tempted to purchase mintcandyapple that everyone seems to rave about. what do you think?

top: blue rinse
trousers: vintage
belt: urban outfitters
sunglasses: primark
jewelry: ladyluckrulesok, h&m, ebay

so we finally had abit of sunshine today so I could finally take some outfit photos. These trousers are something I picked up from a vintage fair about 2 years back, and I saw them and I thought wow, but how would I wear them, and I took a risk and bought them and I think it paid off. I love them and I find they go with alot of things out of my wardrobe, although they are now discoloring a little which im devastated about. Today i've not really been doing alot, I went to my grandmas for a nice roast dinner (vegetarian style lol) and now i'm having a night in with my parents, watching that wage exposing programme. more soon.

top: topshop
skirt: forever 21
jewelry: topshop
sunglasses: primark
shoes: new look

this is what I wore to go shopping the other day. I feel like im channeling the pilgrim look here, I know its summer and you're supposed to be wearing bright colour's but I cant resist classic black and white. I absolutely love this skirt that I bought when I was in forever 21 the last time I was in london, I snapped it up quick as it was the last one in my size. I also picked up these wedges last week from newlook, for £24.99 I couldnt resist, and they'll be perfect for my jollies. Its sam's birthday party tonight so I'm up in manchester all weekend, and then were off for a curry sunday night, going to be a busy weekend.

summer sweetheart

clothing: all vintage
sunglasses: primark
shoes: office

I finally took some outfit photos after continuously putting it off due to bad weather, good job too about 5 minutes after I took these photos it started chucking it down again. Its supposed to be july! This is my favourite way to style my denim shorts, I recently wore it to slam dunk festival back in may when it was boiling hot. I've not been doing much the last few days, me and sam went to see spider man yesterday, which was amazing! let me know what you think. Then I've been getting stuff ready because i'm moving into my new student house at the weekend, were having a big party on Saturday, I cant wait. Now to decide what to wear....

Thursday 28 June 2012

supermassive black hole

top: primark
shorts:next
rings: topshop, ebay, market

this is a pretty old outfit that I threw on when it was warm the other day. I'm currently job hunting like crazy so I can afford some new clothes for my jollys. I've had no success as of yet, but fingers crossed.
I think i'm going to have a nice chill out day today and watch jezza kyle! My moms got the morning off work so I can spend some time with her. I might browse the topshop website, a girl can dream!

Tuesday 26 June 2012

maybe its magic

vest: H&M
jacket: River Island
skirt: Primark
belt: Topshop

I'm loving the maxi skirt trend for the summer, so I keep getting out this skirt I bought last year from primark.  I wasnt too keen on it last year, as it ruffles around the waist, which I still dont like, but the colour is so bright and amazing I'm wearing it alot. I only have 2 maxi skirts, and am on the look out of another pinkey colour one if anyone knows a good place. I'm also thinking about getting a printed vintage one, cause I think it would look nice, but I'm not sure weather I'd wear it again after the summer. What do you think?

fox trotting around

top: arc
american apparel disco pants
jacket : vintage
bag : urban outfitters
shoes : ebay
just a quick post on what I wore to go shopping this weekend. The weather was terrible, so me & sam took refuge in our local shopping centre. I was running late so I didnt have time to take any shots of my jacket (which btw is amazing, it has a huge band patch on the bag and some interesting graffiti) I'll do another post when I'm wearing it. I didnt buy anything whilst we were shopping, besides some earrings... but sam got a denim jacket from topman (copying much ha!) He wants to customize it so we also got some fabric dye. We were searching how to dip dye denim and I found this blog post where they had also dipdyed a jumper (here) in the style of the topshop one that Ive been lusting after for so long, so I decided I had to have one. I bought some pink dye, and just need to get a jumper now, so look out for that.

let the sunshine

top:  topshop
shorts: levi's cutoffs
sunglasses :topshop
lipstick: infrared topshop makeup

I was suprised and excited this morning with how sunny it was, as the last few weeks haven't exactly been june weather; so I whipped out my denim shorts, my favorite summer style at the minute. Just add sunglasses and your good to go. I've been making the most and topping up my tan (not that I have much of one) as I have nothing better to do now I've finished uni for the year! more of the same over the next week.

nandos time

dress : oh my love
necklace : topshop
this is the outfit I wore to nandos on friday. I bought it recently from london, in a sample sale me and sam stumbled upon. I bought it for £15 which I thought was really good, as it was retailed at around £35 I think. I know they sell oh my love as a concession in topshop, and they have some pretty nice stuff so ill be checking it out next time im in there and spending.

Monday 30 April 2012

nails

new nail varnish!. Its 053 apricot punch from the rimmel london I love fruities lasting finish. They have an offer on in superdrug at the minute where if you spend £9.99 you get a free mascara, and I got a bit excited that the lasting finish nail varnish's are only £2.99 so I bought 3, and one at £3.29 I think, so I could get the free scandal eyes mascara. The colours a lot more pink than is shown on camera and is really vibrant and bright. I love it.

monday meltdown

I've not blogged for a while, I've been too preoccupied with my work. Now that im back at uni for a new term I thought why not. I've got so much to share, and some new clothes finally.
Got my student loan today so no more worrying about money for a while, and I placed a large elf order last night so I cant wait for that to come. I bought some much needed new makeup brushes and a few other things..
Although now that I'm back at uni it means more work, so i'm looking forward to summer and a nice long break.

REVIEW Cosmetic Warrior from Lush

£5.75/75g

"A superhero Face Mask to combat spots, cleanse dirt and calm and smooth all troubled skins." I'd never tried any Lush face masks before, and wanted something to cleanse and clear my skin of impurities; so I thought cosmetic warrior was the perfect choice. When I got to the till and they said it was £5.75 I was thinking, ouch, a little on the pricey side IMO. However you do get alot for your money, so far ive used the product twice and it still is over half full. The downside to this is that you have to use the product within 3 weeks of purchase, as it contains no preservatives. If your like me and have quite a busy life, so you dont get round to giving yourself facials very oftern, this poses a problem. I used the product this morning, 3 days out of date, and it still looked and smelt the same and just had a little residue on top.

The product doesn't look very appealing and smells a little strange. It has a thick oatmeal consistency, and a small amount of force is required to scoop it out of the tub. It applies onto the skin easily but I had a lot of difficulty removing it from my face. It left my skin really dry, so I had to slaver on lots of moisturizer after use. It did however cleanse my skin and left it looking slightly clearer and I havent had as many breakouts since I started using it.

Overall I would give this product 3.5/5 because although effective, the results weren't worth the trouble/price. Next time I will be trying a different lush face mask to see how they compare.

OOTD

top: american apparel
jumper: topshop
leggings: vintage
boots: doc martens

quick OTTD of what I wore to uni this morning, sorry the image isnt the best quality, ive had to use my old camera and take the picture myself. I know I keep posting about this jumper, I dont wear it all the time honest. This shirt is my ultimate go to item, it goes with everything. It was abit pricey (£35 or something) but I bought it over a year ago and still love it, so its definatly worth the money. I think they still sell it, so if you can, get your hands on it.

monday snapshot

001 Everyone's blogs seemed to have to a sunday review or whatever, so I thought I would write one; but yesterday I forgot. So ive decided to write one on a monday instead, as mondays are generally reflective been in studio all day.
002 This weekends been all about house hunting for next year, and weve had our ups and downs, with today been a major downer. Weve found the perfect house, but we're not sorted so may loose the house to another group. I'll update next week wether or not we have signed the dotted line.
003 Off home this weekend, so the weeks already looking up even after all the work that's been piled on in studio. With Julia's 50th on friday and Giorginas birthday celebrations on saturday this weekends going to be messy.

Haul

top: cow vintage (£6)
makeup: maybelline dream matte power [03 golden beige], maybelline express finish 40 [base brilliante 01], rimmel scandaleyes [001 black] 17 powder brush

lush bubble bar [dorothy (£2.99) ]
love hearts and crosses lucky dip (£10 for five items)
cross ring: love hearts and crosses (£8)

Just a few things Ive picked up in the last week or so. I absolutely love the crop top, at £6 I thought it was a good price, I'll feature it in a OOTD very soon! I only went in cow to use the changing rooms, because I needed to put a plaster on my foot. What a suprise I actually bought one of the things I was "trying on". As for the lucky dip, I was on lhc website buying the ring (which I absolutly love btw) and I saw they were selling a lucky dip (which is where you get 5 items for £2 each but you dont know what you're going to get, so it could be really good or really bad) I've bought one before and got some really good items so I couldnt resist. I dont think I got the best items in my dip, but I really like the earrings and the locket necklace; the apple necklace and the ring are probably the two that im not going to wear, so overall im happy with it .

Beauty Haul

Tresemme Curl Defining Mousse: I love Tresemme mousse its the only bottle that doesn't break before Ive used all the Mousse up, never tried this type before so we'll see if it "defines" my curls

VO5 plump it up blow dry lotion: Heard some good things about this, and its supposed to de frizz your hair so I thought I'd try it out.

VO5 Miracle Concentrate: This was mentioned on a lot of 2011 favourite blogs so again I bought it to defrizz my hair, which is a mess after redying it again.

17 BB Blemish Balm, in Light : Again the garnier bb cream has been hyped by the media, so I wanted to see if it lived up to its reviews and I picked up the 17 bb cream as it was cheaper; and there was only 2 of my shade left so its popular.

Reviews to come

products of the moment

Soap and Glory, The Righteous Butter : I know every blog goes on about it, but I'm going to mention it anyway because I love it. It smells so nice and whenever I use it I can smell it in my room for ages afterwards. It sinks in really quick and my skin feels amazing afterwards. Its abit pricey at £10 but that's for a big tub which lasts for ages so I think its worth it.
The other product is something I got as a present for Christmas, and again that smells amazing. Its called hearts and homespun, and all the products are homemade. The soap looks really good too, I cant wait to try that. The products are really cheap with everything been around £6. You can buy the products online at www.heartsandhomespun.com

OTTD

just bought the jumper from topshop yesterday, and I couldnt wait to wear it. I got the necklace then too, also from topshop and I thought they went really well together. My dress is also topshop (im having a topshop day today :L ) but I got that last year, I think the collar goes really nice with the jumper and I wear it under alot of my baggy jumpers.
